The causes and effects of diabetes are not known very clearly. There is lot of mystery involved in it. Many scientists are not able to tell it. There are various factors that contribute to diabetes. These are considered to be the risk factors. These factors must surely be overcome by the individuals. Given below are the causes and effects of diabetes:

1.Sometimes, diabetes is believed to be hereditary. A major role is played by hereditary in diabetes. If people belong to a family which has a background history of diabetes, 25 percent of them are more susceptible to diabetes. A lot of care must be taken.
2.Diet also plays a very important role in causing diabetes. If a person eats lots of fats, proteins and carbohydrates, it is considered to cause lot of harm. A balanced diet is required by the body for performing its normal function. If the insulin is insufficient, there will be a rise in the blood sugar levels. This leads to diabetes mellitus. Normally, many people eat foods that are rich in carbohydrates. These include cakes, ice creams, puddings and chocolates. Thus, the chances of diabetes increase.
3.Obesity is also a common reason for the development of diabetes. If the body weight is excess, it will serve as a contributing factor for diabetes mellitus. There is extra amount of fat in the body. However, due to this extra fat, the tissue cells and muscles become very resistant to insulin and this leads to high blood sugar level.
4.Virus infections also lead to diabetes many a times. These viruses include Coxsackie B. The pancreas may be infected and this will lead to the destruction of Beta cells. Thus, insulin will be released and blood sugar levels will increase. Given below are the various effects of diabetes:

1.If the glucose levels are very high in the body, diabetic neuropathy is caused. A lot of damage is caused to the blood vessels.
2.Damage is caused to the blood vessels behind the light-sensitive retina at the back of the eye. Both the eyes will be affected if the condition is not treated properly. This may result in blindness and loss of vision.
3.Damage is also caused to the blood vessels in the kidneys
4.Hypoglycemia may also be caused.
5.Bacteria will thrive on urine and glucose rich food. Thus, if people are having uncontrolled diabetes, they will be more susceptible to urinary tract infections.
Thus, by being aware of the hazardous effects of diabetes, one can surely avoid it.
